Our land-grant mission compels us to address the big issues with new research, new knowledge, and new solutions.
- Green Building will be the 1st certified green building in the country on a land-grant university farm.
- Building and grounds will be designed as an integrative educational tool. This green facility will exceed industry standards and, through research and partnerships, continue to raise the bar for environmental technology.
- Entire project is a partnership of the University, state and county governments, and the business community. Howard County government is an emerging national leader in promoting green building and environmental public policy.
- Building and grounds will be site of ongoing research to monitor and improve efficiency of green systems. The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ faculty and graduate students will conduct research and collect data in a real-life environment. Cooperative research opportunities are available with other University programs, colleges, agencies, or businesses.
- Building and grounds will be open to the public for educational tours. Center will be used as an innovative vehicle to highlight green features that can be implemented inside and outside residential and commercial settings.
